Calgary Zoo

We took the kids to the Calgary Zoo today, they had so much fun looking at all the different animals.

I love this playground at the zoo. It has different sections for different ages and only one exit which makes it easy to monitor where the kids are.

It hit me today how big Zoƫ is getting already when we were at the playground. We saw her once in awhile as she ran past and said hi while running around with different kids, she doesn't need her parents help as much anymore to get around.

Only place Dreyton will stay still on is his daddy's shoulders.

The red panda
a cownose stingray
the pink flamingos

These gorillas were so funny, putting on a good show. There is a very cute baby gorilla there too.

It took awhile to find the tiger but we finally did, he actually came up to us and jumped on his two feet, unfortunately we didn't have the camera ready.

  1. I took the kids last week and they love it! I am so glad that we have the Zoo here in Calgary, the one in Edmonton kind of stinks :)

  2. Very cute. I love the one where Dreyton is wearing Lee's hat. He seemed proud of that.

  3. yes, the Calgary one is WAY better. We went to the Edmonton one quite a bit since I had free passes but as much fun as seeing a gopher enclosure to a rabbit to a goat one is... I actually liked how they had ponies to ride, Zoe LOVED that, and also the elephants would just be roaming free out of there pens with there keeper was interesting.

When I was living at Evergreen in Calgary, we went on a residents' outing one day to the Calgary Zoo, but must admit we were kind of disappointed. It was an insufferably hot day, and all the animals wanted to do was get out of the limelight, and hide back somewhere in the coolness of the bushes. So really all we got to see were the elephants spraying water all over their backs, the tiger's stripes about 100 yards away, the flamingoes, and by luck, feeding time for the dromedaries (I think thats what the double-humped camels are called). Maybe. These pics are wonderful, Kristy.

Looks like so much fun. Many a time I pulled Shawn out of school to spend the day together at the calgary zoo. I was a terrible MOM. Course YOU got to miss school on chocolate making days. Better watch those traditions.....I have learned that school is pretty important too and no wonder Dreyton sits still on top of his dad....how would you like to fall 10 feet from a giant????

Thanks, Deb, but no thanks! Probably 10 inches from the ground level would be about my speed. And woe to tradition! does it really look like the chocolate-making is going to survive beyond your generation. Doubts...
