The Cabin

Lee has finally stopped working in the evenings and so we decided to take a very last minute trip to the cabin. We were able to convince Uncle Dave 4 hours before leaving to come from Edmonton, so he met us just before we left Calgary and drove with us. We had lots of fun and no one wanted to come home, but we'll be back in a few weeks again before Lee starts articling.

Trying to blow out Dreyton's first roasted marshmallow

Apparently he didn't like the sight of his own burned marshmallow, he had stuffed another one out of the bag in his mouth.

Zoë seemed to like her smore's

and eventually Dreyton did too

Zoë has no fear, she loved riding the sea doos

and she loved jumping in the lake, she could have stayed in there forever

she also loved going on the side by side quad rides, it's great to be able to put them in a car seat and just go.

Dreyton wasn't enjoying the quad ride at first but as soon as they started going he loved it

Road trip

On our way to the Sefcik family reunion we spent the first night at Lee's Aunt Jan's house. The kids loved it there playing with there 2nd cousin Treyson on the trampoline and staying up WAY past there bedtime. The 2nd night we stayed at a hotel in Dillon where the kids played lots in the pool. I was very impressed with how they did with so many hours of traveling, it gives me hope for the future.

If I don't see spits again my entire life I will be satisfied. Lee claims he HAS to have them while driving so he stays awake, pops them in constantly and spits them in a cup that grosses me out the entire trip.

Zoë is a fish, she LOVES the water. These water wings are amazing, I love that they buckle up in the back so they can't just fall off like regular water wings. She can move around anywhere in the pool and she jumps in without Lee or I helping.

We had a surprise anniversary party yesterday for Lee's parents at our house. They thought we were having a graduation party for Lee and were quite surprised walking into the room. We had a ham dinner, funeral potatoes, caesar salad, buns, lots of fruit and vegetables, beans and a few jello salads. I thought it turned out really good and seemed like everybody had fun.

Dreyton was having fun going in circles at the kitchen island showing off his goggles The fun we had at midnight after the party.

The Magic Touch

Nana and Pops came to take Zoë on a play date today. They went to costco and bought some really cute dresses and took her to the science center which she had a blast at. It is so nice that our kids have adapted to being around lots of family and actually enjoy going out without mommy and daddy some days, Dreyton has changed a tonne since moving to Calgary as before he would cry and run to mommy and daddy if anyone tried to get close to him. He now gets really excited when he goes and visits family or when they come over to our place.

"Pops" (Neil's name for his grandkids) has a magic touch with our kids. When Zoë was the same age as Dreyton we were visiting in Calgary and went to our family ward, Neil held Zoë one Sunday and through the majority of sacrament she just sat there on Pops lap. That was an absolute shock to us as she was usually scrambling to get down after a few seconds. Earlier today just before they came to take Zoë, Dreyton was laying down on Pops for at least 20 -25 minutes completely still. The only reason he moved was because they were leaving, and of course after they had left he was running off the wall again.

We have offered Pops to move in as we could use this "calming effect" on our kids more often! Unfortunately I don't think he will accept, right now anyways.

Bird Sanctuary

Today Lee and I took the kids for a walk around the bird sanctuary with Erin and the boys. It's just a nice little walk and it was really nice out. Zoë, Tighe, and Dominique had lots of fun running around which was nice, unfortunately Zoë had her first taste of deer poop. It makes me cringe when I think about it, so gross!

Visitors

We had Lee's parents come this weekend and we went to the science center. It was really neat as we went to see the body worlds which are deceased bodies and they have been plasticized to make them very educational. The most interesting ones to me were seeing the lungs of smokers, so gross! You could definetely tell who smoked and who didn't. Also seeing what a tumour looks like, or a stomach ulcer etc.

The next day Lee had a talk in church so Neil and Carole were able to help me out with Zoë and Dreyton, I have been SO happy as Zoë has gone and LIKED nursery the last two times we went.

Update

Lee's parents have been here visiting Zoë since Tuesday night. Lee and I have learned to accept that the grandparents really just come to see there grandkids. It has been nice for Lee and I as we get to go out in the evenings while they're watching Zoë. We got Zoë weighed and she weighs 23.5 lbs right now. getting so big as she gets close to her one year birthday.

Lee and I went to this gameworks place yesterday as its unlimited games for $10 from 7pm-2am. I need to start playing arcades more often because it is a GOOD workout. lol. There's boat paddling games, soccer, a game where you have to pedal on your bike to places, and lots of car racing games etc.
