Canada Day

So.. we were bad parents once in 2 years, not bad. We had our kids stay up till Midnight tonight, but it was well worth it.

Lee had to work today but afterwards we definetely had a fun Canada Day. When he got off work we went straight to some friends place to visit, we were supposed to have a bbq there but we were not able to make it on time. Once we left there we went to a APX bbq, it was a lot of fun, Zoë just ran around the whole time and Dreyton was just getting passed around by other APX girls, he LOVED the attention.

We then went to our friends Curtis and Ashley's highrise to watch the fireworks and to see the waterfall off of the high level bridge. It was the most amazing view as it was on the 11th floor and facing downtown Edmonton and the river valley. Zoë LOVED watching the fireworks, she was sure yelling and singing as loud as she could so the 100 plus other people on the other balcony's could hear her.

Just a word of advice, DON'T order the special brownie batter blizzard, Lee and I had about 3 bites and were ready to puke, here's a picture to have an idea of what it is. It was pretty much drinking chocolate syrup and brownie batter, not sure where the ice cream was.

  1. Well Zoe is certainly NOT terrified of fireworks

  2. More Stanford DNA! Gt. Grandma Norma's cabin at Echo was full of Fireworks! Lee had uncles & cousins gathering down there for Canada Day plus July 4th. (They like the Canadian touch of two excuses to fireworks in one week!) When the little ones are grown, have them ask Nana about England's annual Guy Fawkes Day. That's the fireworks + a bonfire + a stuffed "Guy". You go Zoe! Got some girl second cousins for you to meet in the Flathead Valley.

  4. McKenzie Towne didn't do any fireworks this year, and I didn't feel like driving downtown to watch those.

Yes, that blizzard is gross. I like the chocolate extreme one....but for some people, it's too much chocolate.

  5. I wanna hear those Sefcik firework stories. A negative (one of very few) about moving to Canada was giving up Nov. 5th celebrations.

About the toilet paper - etiquette is "over" - practicality becomes anywhere within your sons' reaching distance AND make it a major line item on the weekly shopping list! AND don't be surprised if a bathroom has run out of paper or else has at least three rolls going at the same time!!! I don't know if girls or just boys??
