first solids

Tenley is 6 months old (almost 7 months).  We started her on rice cereal at 5 1/2 months as she was not sleeping much at night and we could tell she needed some solids to help her sleep longer.

Sitting up for her first time in her high chair

First taste of rice cereal

Open wide!

She gagged the first few times, until she got the hang of swallowing

Hmm. not bad.

Tenley at 6 months old.   She is now army crawling, which has been kinda nice as she loves to entertain herself by rolling, crawling, and playing with her toys in the living room.   She can stay there for a long time now that she can move where she wants too.

My happy baby girl

Her two teeth sticking out.   Hoping the ones on the top won't come for awhile as I am enjoying my happy, content baby girl.

She was sitting up on her own for this picture, she can sit for little bits at a time.

Big Sister helping (luckily now she can for the most part hold her own bottle!)

Playing in her usual spot in the living room

Zoë loves to get pictures with her little sister

Something is usually in her mouth

She LOVES the bath!   She tries to get me as wet as possible.

School 2012

Dreyton is in kindergarten!  hard to believe, I have two school-aged kids.  He LOVES going, and meeting new friends.  He is so social and will go up to kids and talk to them without feeling shy.   He is really good going to his kindergarten doors by himself, and waiting in his class line to go in.   Eventually I will feel comfortable just dropping them off in the drop and go area knowing he will be fine getting to class.

He misses Zoë (aka Mama to him lately)  but LOVES that he can eat kraft dinner (orange macaroni) daily since she isn't there to complain (as she only likes white macaroni) for lunch.

Zoë is in grade 1!   crazy, and sad to have her gone all day long.    She had a hard time adjusting to school now that its full time, and a different school for the first week.   She is getting better now.  She will go in to school on her own now, without having two teachers drag her in, while she's crying for me.   She has a big smile at the end of the day and is excited to tell me all about it.    Now that she's making friends she is more comfortable staying at school for lunch.

Last night on Sept 10th, Zoë lost her first tooth!   She was so excited as she was one of the last kids in her age group who hadn't lost a tooth yet.    She had me check to see how loose it was (as she did this almost daily), I wiggled it a couple times and it popped out.   Here is Zoë, with her toothless grin.

This is just a post to record my kids weights..   It's fun to see, as Dreyton must be going through a growth spurt right now as he has gained 5 lbs in 3 months.

Zoe: 58 lbs
Dreyton:  50 lbs
Tenley: 15 lbs 1 ounce

Zoë's 6th Birthday!

My firstborn is now 6 years old!  Somehow her sleepover party with only 3 friends blew up a bit which ended up being a party and then sleepover with two friends .  She had a blast all day, and kept saying how much fun it was.

While I got ready in the early afternoon, Nana Stanford took Zoë and Dreyton out which helped me quite a bit.  Unfortunately, my cat (Misty) thought I didn't have enough excitement in my life,  so she decided to chase a MOUSE in the house!

I got some random guy outside my house to help me hold the couches up so I could sweep it out of the house, but it was nowhere to be found.  I decided to clean up behind the couches since they were moved already and found it hiding, so I ended up getting it out on my own.   Poor mouse was pretty hurt, but it was too cute to kill so I just let it go away outside.

For the party they played a few games

The Princess and the Frog - Kiss the Frog:  the girls put on lipstick and kissed the picture, and the boys had blue cardboard lips to pin on

Snow White - Bobbing for apples:  Don't get the poison apple

Ate lots of Food

Present opening

they did some crafts and had cake and ice cream .

I was just going to do ice cream sundaes with a bunch of toppings, so I never made a cake.   That morning Zoë said she didn't want a sundae and just wanted a princess cake...   Luckily after quite a few phone calls, and people thinking that i'm crazy to ask them to make a cake on such short notice I found one store that was willing to!  $30 later...   here it is!

The last little bit of the party, the kids watched Tangled in 3D.  It was quite humerous to watch them all break out in song and try to grab at the objects.

When the party was over, Zoë had her cousin Jayden and close friend Saryn over for a sleepover

They all got matching princess pajamas

Before bed we went and flew flying lanterns (chinese flying lanterns that are on the movie Tangled)

(yes, I know my son has pants that are up to his knees, and that he's wearing pink dora shoes... , if he didn't strip down at night to NOTHING i'd maybe think about buying him some new pj's)

Lighting the fuel cell on fire

Going out in the sky (it flies quite high and far). I'm sure people were wondering what the heck was flying past above them

Gramma and Papa Sefcik bought Zoë a new bike for her birthday.   Zoë and I rode around the area for over half an hour today and she kept up with me the whole time.

Of course she picked out the most expensive bike at the store, and when Gramma mentioned how much it was going to be she said "ok Gramma, just let me ride around the store and then we can get a cheaper one".   Needless to say Zoë was SUPER excited to see it the next day.

P.S. - going to kill my sister for buying a makeup kit

Dreyton's LDS funnies

Dreyton has made me laugh quite a bit lately.   He definitely listens In primary and at home when we talk about church principles and beliefs.

I overhear Dreyton talking to a Neighbour kid while he is jumping on the trampoline. "Did you know Jesus can walk on water!   He lives you know"  I'm pretty sure they are Jewish too.

One day I was getting mad at Dreyton for doing something wrong,  he says to me "Mommy!  My wrongs will be washed away!"

He is always randomly telling me "Jesus lives Mommy, he really does!  The scriptures tell us it's true".

This wasn't regarding church at all, but I was watching a show, and I must have gotten distracted and left the commercials running, because a few minutes later Dreyton says to me "mommy you should
wear lipstick, so you can be a cover girl!"

I'm sure there are a few others I'm missing, but at almost midnight my brains not working well.

Tenley 5 months

wow! I have been horrible at updating.  Just realized the last update I did of Tenley was her blessing!

These past five months have gone way too fast, I am already looking back at her newborn pictures and missing that stage.

She started rolling back to front awhile ago, but now learned front to back so she is just starting to roll around everywhere on the floor and starting to (worm) crawl a bit, I tried to delay her as much as possible but that didn't stop her for long.   Most babies learn the front to back first but she wanted to be different and switch it around.

Tenley weighed 13 lbs, 14 ounces on July 9th.

Her hair has gotten longer, and crazyier.   I have a love/hate relationship with her hair.   It's cute, but on hot summer days it gets so sweaty/greasy and she spits up quite a bit and it gets all in her hair.   She has MANY baths because of it.

No teeth have come through, but she is teething tonnes lately, something always has to be in her mouth.

She has been a great sleeper so far, I don't feel as sleep deprived as I did with my other two.

I'm just going to do a picture overload to catch up a bit.

Zoë Update

Zoë is almost 6 years old, 56 lbs and 3'11".  She's my sweet natured girl, always concerned for others and wanting to make everyone happy.    She is such a Mommy's girl, wants to be around me most of the time and do what i'm doing.   If I go out in the evening I am usually prying her off of me in tears so I can leave.

She has improved so much this year in her reading/writing in kindergarten.   She loves that she can now read me stories, or write notes to her friends/family.

I was able to volunteer a few times at Zoë's kindergarten class which I enjoyed doing.  I was able to see her at school and see what she did on most days.   They were able to inline skate a few times in gym class and she insisted I come watch her (volunteer) so I could see how good she was.

Zoe is always demanding I take pictures of her (which is good as I often forget, or too busy at the moment).  Somedays she has a really hard time with Tenley taking up so much of my time, but she loves her and loves being able to take care of her sister and get her to smile.

This is Zoe at her kindergarten celebration.  She is sad that its over, but excited to start grade 1.  She will be starting at Cranston school for grade 1 so she doesn't need to switch schools halfway in the year when we move there.

She loves to learn, and LOVES art and crafts.    You can normally find Zoe making a craft for someone or doing some homework.

Dreyton Update

Dreyton has been growing so fast lately, he was 45 lbs and 3'9" on May 9th at his check-up.  He's 95% for height, and 90% for weight.

He is my sweet little boy, and such a morning person.   He wakes up extremely early (most mornings around 6ish)  and says good morning mommy, its a beautiful day! the sun is shining, the birds are singing.   Luckily for me he is very independent in the mornings and is more then content playing on the ipad or going to turn on cartoons and getting a little snack so I don't have to get up then as well.

He has an OBSESSION with video games right now, whether it be on the ipad/iphone/computer/leappad.   I have to continuously get him off of them, or hide them as he is sneaky and will pretend he's playing in the playroom with his toys but really be playing a video game.   He is really good at playing toys by himself, he loves playing cars and army men.

He just graduated preschool, and is registered to start kindergarten in the Fall.  I have him starting in Cranston school which will be a little hard for me for a few months driving 3x a day there (until our house is built), but I would rather that, then switching him halfway through the year from another school.

He has been playing soccer this year and been loving it.   He was a little scared of the ball at the beginning, and just wanted to guard the goal.  But now he is more assertive and will kick the ball away from someone.

He is my picky eater (like I was) and says he doesn't like a tonne of foods (even before he tries it) and he refuses to admit he actually likes it when I make him try it either.   His favourite foods right now are orange macaroni (kraft), french fries, and cooked carrots (and any dessert).

Dreyton on graduation day

Drew came to cheer him on.

Dreytons Preschool Class

For some reason Dreyton won't look at the camera, he'll either face the camera but move his eyes somewhere else, or he'll look at the camera but with his chin down.

Lee is a CA

I decided to throw Lee a surprise BBQ to celebrate his hard work and MANY hours that took him to become a chartered accountant.

I invited some close family and friends, which came out to be about 60 people.   It was SO fun and not that stressful for me as everyone who had come brought food.

I pretended to Lee I had a bad headache and couldn't come to church, so I stayed home with Tenley.   I then took him and the kids on a bit of a scavenger hunt which occupied him for an hour while people got here and I was able to prepare a bit.

After church he went to my parents place as I had told him we were having a family dinner there (miraculously my headache had gone away).   He got there and there was a note on the door that told him and the kids to get dressed into some more casual clothes and to look in his pocket for his next clue.

He then was supposed to get his brother Greg who was in town, and there was a note that told him to take Greg to see the lot we just purchased.

He showed Greg the lot and there was a note there that told him to go to sobeys and pick up some ice.  He then was supposed to go to customer service to pick up another note.

The next note told him to go to Dayna's house.  When he got there, Dayna and I had blown up a bunch of balloons that had papers inside that said "home" in a bunch of different languages, and some that were empty.

He then came home and his friends/family surprised him.  (Most of the people parked in the splash park parking lot so he didn't think there were that many people there).

Lee was really surprised and I think he had a fun time visiting.   Everyone pitched in, and Erin's boyfriend James helped out huge by doing all the grilling so Lee could relax and enjoy himself.

I was a bit worried about the weather as it was supposed to rain, but LUCKILY it didn't and kids were able to go in the backyard and play.  I didn't even see Tenley the whole time, she was quite fond of her Great Grandma Sefcik and cuddled with her the majority of the time.

I was a little distracted and didn't take many pictures, but i'll post the ones I was able to quickly take.
